Isuzu Amigos
Isuzu does not have a base in the United States of America and is known to import its units from its factories located in Japan. However, with its exceptional performance oriented approach, it has been able to make a steady market for itself and is mostly known for its trucks. Isuzu Amigos was one of the various models launched on the American soil during the 1990s when it was still gaining the trust of its target customers. This two door SUV gets a name that is very characteristic to the lives of humans meaning a friend. Its sales were only nominal as it could not do justice to its name.
The dimensions were weird so to speak and the comfort levels were nothing great. As a driver, it was an uncomfortable and unfulfilling experience with high engine noise and bad steering mechanism. By making it a two door vehicle, the interiors proved to be a hindrance for those who had to sit at the back. The seats were made of plastics with low quality adding to the discomfort. It had the looks and the capability to meet the off road requirements, but failed to reach the hearts of the customers. Despite its sporty looks, it did not feel like a car and the driver was always aware of being present in a truck. The engine was the standard powerful V6 which allowed for pulling of sufficiently heavy loads but it was also available in the other competitive vehicles due to which, it never was able to stand out.
If we go into the details of the features available in the Isuzu Amigos, it boasts of an impressive audio system comprising of cassette player and has the capability to catch radio signals for FM and AM. It had a dual rooftop and alloy wheels which provided it with very impressive looks. Under the hood, it had an engine which could generate 205 HP of power. The transmission was manual in the initial lots but with time, was changed to automatic. With increasing demands for better driving experience, a 4 wheel drive was launched later on. Other than this, the only change that the Amigo undertook was in its front style which became better with improved shock absorbers.

Not so surprisingly, Amigo shared the same looks as that of the Isuzu Rodeo which was a massive success. Based on the same lines, it had a similar structure with minor changes at the wheel base area (shorter in its case). Another difference that came up was when Rodeo shifted from the rear spare tire mount concept to reduce its weight. If we compare its interiors to other cars available in the market, the closest is the Honda Passport. The dual power ports, door locks, mirrors are some common features.
Overall, unfortunately for Isuzu, Amigo was not able to provide the customers with what they were looking for - An SUV which could be utilized in the off road locations but also comfortable enough to drive on the urban roads.
